Men for Equality is a nonpartisan group of men who want women to be fairly represented in government.
The literal meaning of the word patriarchy is "rule of the father."
In a patriarchal society, men have more power and use it to oppress women. Afghanistan is an extreme example of a patriarchal society, as the Taliban has revoked the rights and freedoms of all women in the country. Their government is 100% male and 0% female.
In comparison, the US Congress is only 28% female, which means we have fewer women in government than almost all other developed countries. This lack of representation is an insult to our nation's ideals of liberty and justice for all, and we do not want it to continue. 72% male, 28% female. Can anyone call that fair?
